University Research:
First University:
University of Herfordshire (UH)
Courses:
- 3D Games Art & Design
I looked into this university because of the reviews given by students that have left as well as the course that I am looking for using other peoples view on this course as well as my aim to get into a games art course but also a games design course that focuses on not only the modelling but also the programming side of things as well. The skills needed and portfolio work that is recommended is also listed on the course information.
Second University:
Staffordshire University
Courses:
- Games Art
- Computer Games Design
After looking into more options for courses I started looking into staffordshire university, I looked into other types of 3D modelling like character as well as environment and i found games art which is a mix of character modelling and environment art and over the 3 year course you work starting at the basics and moving onto the more personal work and following and doing deadlines in your own time, Computer games design is more onto all 3 of the main elements of games starting with games art progressing onto programming and then finally moving onto 3D modelling these course allows you to develop skills in all 3 main specialisation of the industry.
Conclusion:
Looking into the 2 universities I found that a lot of courses that i looked at appeal to what I would like to do in the industry and they fit into what I would like to do and what I am good at, there is lots of courses about the games industry and lots of universities keep adding more courses in that focus on different things but these 2 that I have found are 2 of the ones that I like the most and show the most promise in the ares that I would like to work and study in. I am more leaning towards staffordshire because of there games art course but I will continue to look into the courses and see which one fits me best.
