Final Evaluation:
This is my Final Evaluation for my unit 9-10 work, where I will be identifying and breaking down how my final product went and if it met all of the needs and checked all of the boxes, as well I will look into how I could have improved and what I had to change to make it better on the spot or quicker.
My final product is a western Mineshaft, I follow the specification of my audience research and made it best fit the specs for my age group, I believe that my product has met of the specification of this audience, In my opinion it has a realistic feel to it and I tried to make a model or good standard and I feel it has met these requirements. When I was making the model I followed games like red dead and looked into aged wood around my area to see how wood would chip and fad to make more realistic textures, this allowed my model to have more detail and helped it fit my audience. The model focuses more on the dark theme for that was one of the things that i looked into when looking at my audience as well it fits the realistic feel to the model, I worked on making it feel claustrophobic in the cave to make people viewing it like they are in the cave themselves. I am very happy with my model and I have worked really hard on it and think it appeals just in the right ways to my audience and is as detailed as i wanted it to be.

When beginning this task I did a large amount of research and I collected things that my audience liked and what fascinated them to allow me to get a better understanding of how I should make my model look and feel to them, It had a massive impact on the idea and the design of the end product because of the other types of mines in games have a sort of dark tone to them more a spooky feel so I gave my mine just that too making sure it makes the viewer feel things, I had planned to do three different project but I would say this one was the most possible one out of the 3 and did not have a massive work load but could still look good in the end, its realistic design gives it a nice look and makes it appealing to the eye the texturing was something struggled with because I had to learn new software but in the end I got use to it and improved my skills with it over time by learning more and more. I used colours of a desert colour pallet that I had made and worked from the pictures on my mood board to make them. I wanted to make the textures as realistic as possible so I made sure i looked into the types of colours that would go with them and how rough and dense they would look in different lighting. I believe that due to my research this project relates heavily to my audience and follow to main points I was going for which were realistic and dark tones. I collected images for this unit for the research section, I looked primarily into images of Mineshaft entrances and then used that to give me a base Idea for my layout for the inside of my mineshaft, building off this idea allowed me to make it flow more and make it better connect in the end. I used lots of my research to inspire me into making my project but believe i could have looked more into other types of research rather then just games this would allow me to get a greater view and maybe make better layouts for this style or diorama the main problem was I was extremely focused on the outside during the final part of the project and realised that I had not put enough of my time on the research for the inside and saw how i could have improve, next time if I was to do the same thing i would improve the amount of research that I have done and make sure I use other types of media. It seemed from the start of this part of the project I had limited myself and should have then done more research to expand that gap so I was not so confined with ideas and this would have helped me improve my project in the end.
That is not to say that I did not enough research that is just to say that I did not look at other sources of media, I had enough to produce the scene I was thinking but I had my mind set before looking further into other medias then I should have and I had already got carried away and had come up with the base design and had a general Idea of how I wanted to do the final design. The entire entrance was based upon the examples in my research and these helped me come up with the final design for the entrance and helped me come up with 4 ideas of how it should be made and should look my research of the entrances and the insides allowed me to base a basic idea of what i wanted for the entrance just feel that I could have looked into it some more and maybe brain stormed some more. The main part that moved in each idea of the entrance was the frame and the rock that it was holding up this allowed me to shape the rest of the mine around it and give a nice shape.
During this unit, I learnt a new things and improved old skills in things that I forgot or needed to work on, my main struggle was my texturing and my UV skills which seemed to be very lacking but after working more on them within this project I have improved drastically and have improved my UV sheets and made them far more optimised and made my texture look nicer and learnt how to make some really nice high detail textures. Another thing that has improved that I did not see until now is my modelling skills and since I have gone back to old work I had done over the years and have redone parts of them to make it better and more optimised and this project has shown me how I can do this and has helped with this, that is not to say there is no rooms for improve with these skills I will always be improving them and working on them as I progress in further projects. For this diorama I used clutter to build a atmosphere and did not focus as much as I should have on the general shape and I think i should have put more time in that then the other parts in general I think I still need to work on my time and how much time i spend at home doing other things to help me improve further in my projects and help my portfolio I could have put a lot more effort into this project and if I was to go back I would have spent less time working on other bits and more on this project.
